Malthus wins major contract in Canada

Stavanger (12.03.2010): Malthus will deliver an accommodation camp for 1000 people in Newfoundland on the East Coast of Canada. The project will be delivered to Brazilian Vale, the world’s second largest mining company, and has a total value of c. NOK 300 million.

The accommodation camp will be delivered in Newfoundland in Canada for the world’s second largest mining company, the Brazilian company Vale.
Turnkey contract
Malthus will deliver a well functioning and modern accommodation camp for 1000 persons. The rental contract runs over three years with an option to renew for two years. Malthus will design and engineer the building foundations and infrastructure as well as build and rent out the accommodation camp. Malthus partner for the project is Compass Group Canada that will deliver food and support services for the camp.
Ready for tenants by summer
The first part of the camp will be delivered in the summer 2010 and during the autumn the second and the third part of the project will be completed.
High quality rooms
The single rooms are delivered fully equipped with flat screen televisions and bathrooms. In addition canteens as well as modern common rooms and facilities covering 4.500 m2 will be delivered.
The contract will have a high impact on Norwegian subcontractors and promote Norwegian export. Moelven shall produce the modules that will be shipped to Canada from Norway. As a consequence all workers that have been laid off at Moelven will get their jobs back.
